CSCI (ARTI) 4530/6530

Introduction to Robotics

Introduction to hardware and software involved in autonomous mobile robotics. Course content emphasizes the mathematical and statistical models related to robotic perception and motion, associated algorithms, and their programming in computer-simulated environments. Course structure involves classroom instruction, written and programming assignments, and exams.

The two major issues dealt with are: (1) cognitive behavior, and (2) motion. Cognitive behavior addresses problem solving using sensory inputs and desired goals. Motion deals with aspects of movement from simple robotic arm movement to autonomous rovers in unknown environments.

Not offered on a regular basis.
