Khaled Rasheed and Tianming Liu, along with a group of fellow UGA professors, have secured a grant from the National Institute of Health for their project titled "Digital Mobile Technologies to Study Tuberculosis: A Multi-disciplinary Approach" The focus of this research will be on controlling tuberculosis in Africa which has a devastating effect on the population every year. The award will support two Ugandan pre-doctoral students to pursue studies in epidemiology at UGA along two tracks: one in Computing and AI and the other in Geography. In parallel with the UGA program, the Uganda School of Public Health will support 2 – 3 graduate students per year to complete their research projects. The grant will also include some short-term non-degree related training in specific areas.
